My peas have grown quite rapidly over these past weeks. However, there has been a slight mishap, as I did not provide a constant pot plant where it has no music being played to it. Another factor that has altered my plants, is the fact that the wet weather has provided my plants with a very moisturised environment. Though, peas grow better in drier environments.
Both these factors are going to be included in the discussion, as both have affected my experiment.

Ok, after what happened to my poor rock-pea and my poor blues-pea, the ash and the poop, I have decided to take down any information of change, of disruption, in a small notebook. I have also taken pictures of each day and the growth changes.
And yes, peas do grow really fast.
I will not upload all photos but choose appropriate ones needed to show changes between the peas to put in my blog and in my report.
The pop-peas have grown very well, each pot plant holding three sprouts, totalling 6. The blues-pea has only sprouted two in one pot and one in the other, totalling 3 sprouts. And the rock-peas which are struggling, has only sprouted one in each pot, totalling 2.
The results are coming along as expected.
However, personally, I despise rock music, so to have to listen to that each morning and night, is making my ears bleed..., metaphorically.
endure, Endure, ENDURE!!!
Hello World,
I have a crisis. The other day I discovered that there was a white substance in two of my pot plants. One was ash-like, whilst the other was gooey. Turned out, dad 'accidentally' dropped some of his ashes into one of my rock-peas... And the gooey substance was bird poop. Excellent. Well that disrupts my constant variables, so there will definitely be a change in the result.

But, I guess these things do happen.

Here are some pictures from my experiment. The ceramic plant holders are actually bigger than what they seem...

Hello World,
Below is the equipment list and method for my SRP experiment.

Equipment List
- 18 Pea Seeds
- 1L Gardening Soil
- 6 Ceramic Plant Holders
- 200mL Water
- Measuring Cylinder

Method
1. Collect the equipment stated above.
2. Drain soil to remove moisture and place a thin layer of soil inside the ceramic plant holder.
3. Plant three seeds an inch deep, 3 to 4 inches apart, in one ceramic plant holder.
4. Fill up the remaining space with soil in the ceramic plant holder until it sits one centimetre below the rim.
5. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 in the other 5 ceramic plant holders.
6. Water each pot plant with 30mL of water.
7. Place the 6 pot plants in an area which receives plenty of sunlight, preferably with southern exposure.
8. Separate two pot plants with the others when music is played.
9. Play each style of music in the morning and during the night for a time period of 20 minutes.
10. Repeat step 9 for one month.
11. Observe and record results during the month.

*The experiment does not need to be repeated as it has already been taken into account, thus there are 6 pot plants instead of 3.

Hello World,
Sorry I haven't been updating for so long but I couldn't find this blog. You disappeared off the face of the earth.
Anyways, waking up every morning at 6am is very tiring, but for my little plants, I will continue to do so.
And I have noticed that the rock-peas haven't actually shot up yet, only the pop-peas... This observation is supporting my theory that the rock-peas won't grow as well as the pop-peas and blue-peas.
Anyways, good night world.

Hello World,

I almost forgot to post thy climate graph. It's a tad different to what they taught us in Geo in year 8 but since I wanted to include both high and low temperature - I did it both in bar graph style...
Well here it is...!
Hello World,
Switched to peas now, beetroot no more. =( But only because peas grow faster than beetroot.
Anyways, my peas are growing so beautifully in their little pots - their just beginning to shoot through the soil.
I'm experimenting with three different styles of music - rock, blues and pop. Each track is in its mos extreme form. For e.g. rock will be full on rock etc. Each pot plant is being repeated, so there is 6 pot plants on my balcony in total.
My playlist is as follows:
Rock: Enter Sandman by Metallica
Blues: Don't Know Why by Norah Jones
Pop: Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.

Small Change

Hello World,
I know that I've told you I'm going to grow plants and, thank the lord, I have finally found the one that I'm going to experiment on, except, it's going to be a vegetable. I figured that not only can I observe it's appearance, but growing a vegetable also gives me the chance to taste test it - sometimes, looks aren't everything.
I've decided to grow beetroots, firstly because, they have a rich colour and I am easily able to compare the richness of each beetroot and secondly, because they are delicious!
I've bought the seeds and the packet says they should be able to be harvested in 15 weeks. Which should give me enough time to grow them, while observing them, then harvest them, eat them and finally record the results.
I'm looking forward to it...!
Lota luv,

Hello World!

Hello World!
There wasn't much information that I found on the internet about Winter plants that are available in Sydney. I think it'd be easier just to visit a gardening store and they should have plant seeds for the current season.
I've thought up of another variable for my experiment - the language of the music played to the plants should remain the same - in this case, I think I should stick to English. The songs for my plants have not been chosen but I do have an idea of which songs I'm preferring to use. The songs will be played in the morning as the sun rises, and again, using the same song, in the afternoon when the sun is setting. They will be played everyday for a period of 2 months. I need to download the sunrise and sunset times, I might even download daily temperatures, find the monthly average and compare the amount of growth in different sunrises, sunsets and daily temperatures. It's just a thought, though...
Also, to fund my experiment, I have started completely more household duties, and mum's agreed to give me enough money. Besides, it's 'educational', so why not...?
Something that I'm not looking forward to is waking up at 6 in the morning, especially in Winter... Sigh. The sacrifices we make as kids are truly magnificent.
Okay then, I'm gonna get some sleep, maybe even think about SRP, you never know...
Lota luv,
Missvintagevogue.

Hello World!

Hello World, sorry I haven't been on for a while - these weeks have been hectic as ever and every weekend is taken up either from work or singing competitions. As soon as this week's Clean Up Australia Day event is over, I'll be able to update more frequently.

Anyways, I've decided to choose the plant growing, music playing experiment to do.
I'll be able to buy the equipment and materials that I need from local florists. The music that will be played to the plants can be downloaded from the internet or I'll just use CDs that I already have at home. I'm just wondering if there is any copyrights that might affect the music I play...

Also, the details for my experiment have not entirely been settled but I plan to use the same plant for experiment 1, which will be conducted over a 2 or 3 month period, and a different plant for experiment 2, which will be conducted at the same time in the 2 or 3 month period. Of course, the music will be the same for both plants and it will vary according to different styles of music. Maybe a bit of rock, country, classical and one without any music. There will be four plants, each being played or not played music. To keep the variables balanced, they will be put in the side balcony, west of the house, where even sunlight will be absorbed. However, the fact that Autumn and Winter is approaching does limit the amount of sunlight for the plant. But that's fixable, as I can choose a plant that grows better in Winter. Also, that side of the house is the least noisy, so it shouldn't interrupt my the variables. Another variable I have to consider is the amount of nutrients that each plant should receive, such as the amount of water, maybe plant food as well.

To record the results, I have bought a digital camera to capture shots of the plants growth every 2 weeks. These will record the physical changes of the plants. I will conduct more research on soils and if it's possible to measure the state of the soil using household equipment. Other than physical changes, I'm not sure what else I can observe and measure.

Ok, I just realised how tedious this is going to be...
But if I follow my plans, I think I'll be able to scrape through this project, ALIVE.
Sigh.
Talk to you next time kids,
Missvintagevogue.

Hello World,
I've had a look at the different options for my SRP and I've narrowed it down to 2. One is examining the packaging of fruit and how it affects the fruit. Another, suggested by my brother, is observe the growth of particular plants when different types of music is played to them.

Not sure which one to do. Both are quite interesting...
By the next post, hopefully, I'll have chosen one and started to organise my time with my project.

Wish me luck,
Missvintagevogue.

Hello World!

Hello World, I'm stuck for ideas on what to do for my SRP.
Had one in mind, but that one got booted...

Hopefully, I'll come up with one soon.

Wish me luck,
